The Tundra Swans (which I have been calling White Swans) have been constant visitors to the river below the resort, since the end of March.
In typical years the Swans would migrate to our area early April to mid-May on their way up to the tundra to nest. Much to our delight they have been stopping on the Rennie River for the past few years. They will return again in September to mid November on their way back south. The fall stop is not usually such a long stay as the spring stop-over.
While on the river they “graze” for tubers, roots, grains and other aquatic vegetation.
These huge beauties are about twice the size of a Canada Goose; and yet it takes only a few steps across the water and they are air born.
I hope some spring visit, you will have the privilege of seeing these spectacular creatures.
It’s almost May!!
We have openings for Fishing Season Opening and the Victoria Day weekends.
Hope to see you soon!
